It is a strange feeling to see a child growing up and doing their own things independently. Last Saturday Lily had a dance rehearsal for the upcoming recital. I was instructed by her teacher to drop her off and leave, no parents were allowed in the rehearsal. Even though I leave her once every week for an hour for her normal dance class, this felt different. When I walked her to the rehearsal room and saw all the children in there with only a handfull of adults, I kind of felt like I was sending her off into the world. Sounds very cliche, but it was so bizarre. Not that I didn't feel like she would taken care of, I knew she was in good hands, but she was off being her own person!
Then the big day came, real stage and real audience... recital time. I felt so proud of my sweet little red head up on that stage shaking her hips back and forth. She was trying so hard to concentrate on hitting those moves while not letting all those eyes on her be a distraction. She was amazing, and I am so proud of the little girl she is becoming.
Who knew my pride would be added to for the evening when my very own husband showed off some dance moves of his own! During the recital, Mikell, Lily's dance instructor, asked for a few of the dad's to come up on stage for a dance-off. Me, Grandma Heslop, and Grandma Stewart were all trying to push Paul up and strut his stuff. He finally gave in when he discovered that there was a gift card in store for the winner. So the dance-off began and he was bustin' a move just like he was back in high school. He was as agile and groovy as always! He went from 5 contests, to 3 and finally made it to the finals (based on applause radar from the audience). There was just one other guy between him and that trophy of a gift card. But after much breakin' and some finale "old man" dancin', Paul WON! I'm so proud of my dancing girl and man!

HAHA! Way to go Paul! That's rad!
